The Brooke County Health Department has reported an influx of positive rabies cases surrounding the Bethany area. There has been four positive cases within six miles within the last several months. Residents are advised to leave wild animals alone, ensure pets are vaccinated against rabies and do not leave food sources outside that may attract wild animals. Anyone who believes they may have seen a sick animal is encouraged to contact the Brooke County E911 Dispatch Center at 304-737-3660 or by dialing 911 to report.
