Every year the USDA coordinates a rabies barrier by dropping baits from a low flying plane along with hand baiting. This baiting is to prevent the spread of rabies Westward and push back towards the East. For more information click: www.dhhr.wv.gov/oeps/disease/Zoonosis/Rabies/Pages/ORV.aspx
If someone should come in skin contact with the bait they should wash their hands and report it to the Brooke County Health Department at 304-737-3665. There is no harm if a pet should eat one of the baits, however, it does not provide vaccination for that animal if that should happen.
