All students entering 7th grade and 12th grade will need to show proof of the following vaccines before entering school.
- 7th graders must show proof of a booster does of Tdap vaccine which protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) and a dose of MCV4 (meningitis) vaccine.
- 12th graders also must show proof of a single does of Tdap, plus booster does of MCV4 if the first dose of MCV4 was given before the child’s 16th birthday. If the first dose was given after the 16th birthday, then a booster dose is not required.
The Brooke County Health Department offers vaccines to eligible children age 18 and under through the Vaccines for Children Program.
First parents should contact their family doctor and determine if their child’s shots are current and meet the school entry requirements.
If your child is unable to receive these vaccines at their doctor’s call the Brooke County Health Department for eligibility information and an appointment at 304-737-3665. Immunizations are given every Wednesday from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Health Department.
